No puzzles or hidden messages with this one. We’re excited to finally announce that our new album, A THOUSAND SUNS, will be released on September 14th.

The lead single for the album is called “The Catalyst.” It will be released on August 2nd.

Beginning tomorrow, July 9th, we’re teaming up with MySpace and MixParade for “Linkin Park, Featuring You,” a contest which gives you the one-of-a-kind opportunity to be on our new album. We'll be giving you some audio from “The Catalyst,” and you get to take it from there; you can remix the parts, write something over them, or mute stuff and write something totally new. We may choose a remix of the song, and put it on the album…or, we may choose an amazing keyboardist, string quartet, guitarist, percussion group, or other musician, and invite them into the studio to play on one of our songs. No matter what instrument you play, you can win. We're open to anything good. All we ask is that you include any audible portion of any one of our stems in your submission.

Once you submit, the community (that's you) will vote, and the most popular stuff will rise to the top. Then, my bandmates and I will comb through the submissions, choose one winner, and they will be included on our album, A THOUSAND SUNS. Check out http://www.myspace.com/linkinpark for contest details.

I think I've said enough for now. Thanks for your continued support. We’ve got more announcements coming, so keep checking LinkinPark.com for updates.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
<-----------EDITS----------->
back with details

Musicians always talk about how big of an influence their fans have upon their music. But let’s face it, most of the time that statement is about as heartfelt as Ashlee Simpson blaming her 2004 SNL vocal debacle on acid reflux.

But not Linkin Park. In an unprecedented move, the band is giving you, the fans, the chance to actually help shape a song on their upcoming album, A Thousand Suns, which will hit shelves on September 14. We’re proud to be teaming up with Linkin Park for “Linkin Park Featuring You,” a one-of-a-kind opportunity that allows you the chance to produce your own song for the band.

Beginning tomorrow, July 9, you can go to Linkin Park’s MySpace page to download audio stems from “The Catalyst,” the first single from the band’s new album, which will hit radio on August 2. Then it’s on you to show off your skills. Adjust the stems, record and produce your own additional tracks.Feel free to use your own music production software to create your song and then upload it to Linkin Park’s MySpace page.

Once each new version is submitted, the track will be shared in an embeddable player, which anyone can access to rate and comment, as well as click through to record their own tracks.

A winner will be chosen by Linkin Park, and the lucky musician’s submission will either be included on the band’s new album or the winner will be invited to perform with the band on a song on the upcoming record.

The group’s new album will be co-produced by Rick Rubin and the band’s lead singer Mike Shinoda. And maybe, if you show off your best skills, you can add your name to the credits.
